About Protein Smoothing

Protein smoothing is a hair straightening method that aims to soften, tame, and smooth curly or wavy hair. Unlike other hair straightening treatments that use harsh chemicals, protein smoothing relies on the use of natural proteins or protein complexes to nourish and strengthen hair from within, giving it a smooth and shiny appearance. However, it's important to note that results may vary depending on hair type and initial condition, and it's essential to consult a hair professional to determine if this treatment is right for your specific hair type.

What types of hair products should I use at home to maintain and prolong the effects of my Protein Smoothing?

Protein smoothing can be suitable for most hair types, including thick and curly hair, fine and straight hair, as well as damaged or chemically treated hair. However, it is recommended to consult a hair professional to determine if this treatment is right for your specific hair and for personalized advice.

The duration of protein smoothing results can vary depending on several factors, including hair texture and condition, as well as post-treatment care. On average, the effects of protein smoothing generally last between 4 and 6 months. However, certain factors, such as the type of products used and the frequency of washing your hair, can influence the duration of these results. It is recommended to use suitable hair products and follow your stylist's recommendations to prolong the effects of protein smoothing.

To maintain and prolong the effects of your protein straightening treatment, use hair products specifically formulated for chemically treated hair that provide extra moisture. Opt for a sulfate-free shampoo, moisturizing conditioner, hair mask, leave-in treatment, smoothing serum, heat protectant, and lightweight styling products. Be sure to choose products that are right for your hair type and follow your stylist's recommendations for best results.

The steps at the show

01

Diagnostic

During your appointment, you'll discuss your expectations, hair type, and any previous chemical treatments with your stylist. This is also an opportunity for the stylist to assess the health of your hair and determine if tannin straightening is right for you.

02

Hair preparation and product application

Your hair will be washed with a clarifying shampoo to remove hair product and sebum residue, allowing the tannins to better penetrate the hair cuticle.

The hairdresser will apply the product to your hair, strand by strand from roots to ends.

03

Break time

Once the product is applied, your hair will be left to sit for a period of time, usually between 30 minutes and an hour, depending on the product brand and hair texture.

0 4

Rinsing and drying

After the treatment time, your hair will be thoroughly rinsed with warm water to remove any excess product. It will then be dried using a hairdryer. After drying, the hairdresser may use a straightening iron to seal the treatment and achieve an even smoother and shinier result.

05

Care instructions

Your hairdresser will give you advice on how to care for your hair at home to prolong the effects of tannin straightening, including products to use and precautions to take.
